Friday September 18th
Mt Wantastiquet - Upper Trail - Night Hike
Route: Wantastiquet Upper Trail
Expected Duration: 2-1/2 hours
Estimated Distance: 4-1/2 miles
Skill Level: Moderate
Arrive at Departure Point by 4:30pm
Trip starts promptly at 5pm
Departure Point: Trailhead parking area at Wantastiquet base, Mountain Road, Hinsdale (across from Norm’s Marina). Carpooling suggested as parking area is small.
Hike takes about 45 minutes to reach the top and is suitable for anyone, age 3 years old and up, in healthy condition. While the terrain is rocky, you're hiking on a wide road-type path. The trail zig-zags back and forth so it's not a steep climb for any length of time. Fine view of Brattleboro across the river.

Saturday September 19th
Moon Ledge
Route: Daniels Mountain to Moon Ledge
Expected Duration: 2-1/2 hours
Estimated Distance: 1-1/2 miles
Skill Level: Moderate
Arrive at Departure Point by 8:30am
Trip starts promptly at 9am
Departure Point: Trailhead parking area, N. Hinsdale Road, Hinsdale. 1.7 miles from intersection of Monument & Plain Roads; left hand side of road). Look for “Departure Point” sign. Carpooling suggested as parking area is small.
Follow white diamonds nailed to trees, hike 0.7 mile up Daniels Mountain while climbing 549'. Moon Ledge, a rocky outcrop, offers a spectacular view (cloud cover permitting!) into Massachusetts and Vermont from a grassy clearing on the south side of the mountain. Trail is steep and rocky in parts.

Eagle's Nest
Route: Bald Eagle’s Nest
Expected Duration: 1 to 1-1/4 hours
Estimated Distance: 2 miles
Skill Level: Easy
Arrive at Departure Point by 10am
Trip starts promptly at 10:30am
Departure Point: Hinsdale High School parking lot, 49 School Street, Hinsdale.
Easy, fun hike out to the eagles' nest on a mostly flat, wide trail that has one small hill. There are other nests, signs of beavers, and other fowl to observe along the trail.

Sunday September 20th
Hinsdale History, Guided Hiking Tour to the Hinsdale House
Route: Hinsdale House Grounds
Expected Duration: 1 hour
Skill Level: Easy/Basic
Arrive at Departure Point by 11:30am
Trip starts promptly at 12:00pm
Departure Point: Hinsdale House,
609 Brattleboro Road, Hinsdale.
Travel Hinsdale House grounds and some of the surrounding trails. Area is easily accessible and terrain is level with one small rise over the rail trail.

GOT LUNCH?
The Hinsdale Historical Society will be putting together box lunches for our participants. The cost is $10 each and will consist of bottled water, a wrap (turkey or veggie) and a snack, packed up in an insulated lunch bag.
Your pre-ordered lunch will be delivered to your trip’s departure point before the excursion starts.
Lunches must be pre-ordered. Please do so when you register for you trip
ARRIVE PREPARED
Hikers:
Hiking boots are strongly recommended; next best is some type of sturdy footwear.
Canoers/Kayakers:
Required: PFD (life preserver); canoe/kayak; paddle. YOU WILL NEED YOUR OWN EQUIPMENT for the Liscomb Hollow
trip on September 20th. We suggest waterproof bag(s) for gear.
Recommended for All:
Dress appropriately for changing weather; identification; hat; sunglasses; sun screen/block; bug spray/repellent;
lots of water/Gatorade; snacks/lunch; small first aid kit; binoculars: phone or camera; backpack.
Sunday September 20th
Guided Hiking Tour over Mt. Wantastiquet
Route: Mt. Wantastiquet to Daniels Mountain
Expected Duration: 3 hours
Estimated Distance: 3 miles
Skill Level: Moderate to Strenuous
THIS IS A CHALLENGING HIKE
Arrive at Departure Point at 9am
Trip Starts promptly at 9:30am
Departure Point: Hinsdale High School parking lot, 49 School St, Hinsdale.
Hikers will be transported to Mt. Wantastiquet, picked up on the N. Hinsdale Road, and transported back to the parking lot.
We’ll be hiking in a remote area. Elevation will offer scenic views so bring your phone or camera. We may see occasional wild life.
